Afternoon Update

He did a lot better now that they’ve backed off the morphine. The nurse (Dedra) and I were able to get him up and walking pretty easily, and he proved he can walk to the bathroom. The catheter is gone, so he has motivation to get up. Rhonda and I put him back in the bed pretty easily. Even though we didn’t do it exactly right, it didn’t seem to hurt him too much.

Joseph came by and visited for a long time this afternoon. Jamie came by also after Brad called him - he said he didn’t even know about the surgery! It was good to see them.

Dr. Haber said that he was not displeased that Brad was doped up so much as the pain is not really tolerable for a couple of days. He said that the fever was common and expected and that he had seen it run as high as 103 degrees. Per Dr. Haber, fever due to infection would not be expected until a week or two had passed. This fever is not related to infection at all. It dropped to 99 degrees with Tylenol during most of the day.

When we got Brad up, I was amazed again at how tall he appears. He has been taller than me for a while, but now it seems like he’s 2 inches taller.
