Physical Therapy

The physical therapist finally came by and we got Brad out of bed. He walked all the way around the bed without any problem, then sat on a chair on the other side. It started hurting after a few minutes and he wanted back in the bed. The PT told him she wanted him to walk out in the hall, but he said he was hurting too much. He then stood up by himself and she started to tie his gown around him so he could walk out. At that point, he said he felt like his leg was going to buckle under him. He had his right foot twisted at an odd angle. At that point, she let him off the hook and we put him back in bed.

During part of this time, he was talking crazy to me and couldn’t understand what I was saying back to him. The nurse agreed with me that the morphine is hindering his progress and relayed that to the doctor. After the doctor checked out his leg, he said that it was probably just a cramp and that he might have twisted his leg to relieve that cramp. He then left orders to back off the automatic dose of morphine and just let him hit the pump when he needs it.

I don’t see us going home early….
